The River Project

Project type

Collagraph long form prints

Date

Ongoing

Location

France, USA, Caribbean

An ongoing project inspired by the need for saving our rivers and the global concern about the Earths changing natural landscapes. This project is intended to be installed as a public accessible work when completed and will features a series of connected long prints that wrap around the installation room. Production emphasizes using recycled materials, and sustainable methods with collagraph printmaking techniques. Francine is inspired by her observations of the natural landscapes and rivers of the 6 countries she has lived in, all of which have had reoccurring periods of drought, or landscapes marred by fire, erosion and hurricanes. A sample of the panels was shown in an open studio event pictured in this series. The finished project will be a single flow of connected prints that wrap around the room and show a cycle of ebb and flow. They signify the regenerative power of nature when we carefully steward the land the we live on by being part of the ecosystem, and no longer just unconscious consumers of our environment.
